In The Classroom

Our students have many opportunities to use their critical thinking skills, work on project-based learning assignments, and work with our community.  Below are a few examples of the great experiences our teachers provide.

Film Honoring Victims of 9/11
Choose to Lead students at Pathfinder took a moment to remember and honor the victims of 9/11.

Coding

Students from Country Elementary, along with their teacher, Beth Arsenault, shared their enthusiasm and interest for learning how to code computer language at a recent school board meeting. What is so intriguing is that our students are learning how to do this using a tool found at code.org, which enables students (and adults for that matter) to learn the basics of coding, using familiar games such as Angry Birds.

The following video and slideshow was also shared with the Board of Education that does an excellent job showcasing our student’s excitement for this.

Pirate Academy
Next year PCHS will begin a new program for all freshmen called the Pirate Academy. This new program is a foundation for students entering the high school, helping them build positive relationships, grow critical skills, and develop into well rounded students. For many years Pinckney has been providing students the opportunity to be involved in two different nationally recognized programs - Freshmen Academy and New Tech High. The new program is taking the best of both programs and mashing them up into an opportunity for students to become P.I.R.A.T.E.s - students who are Problem-solvers, who have Integrity, who are Responsible, who are Achievers, who are Technologically Literate, and Empathetic
